Steelers star T.J. Watt expected to return for Week 10

The Pittsburgh Steelers have floundered through the first nine weeks of the 2022 season. However, they’re due much-needed significant boost.

Star pass-rusher T.J. Watt is in line to return for Week 10 action against the New Orleans Saints. Watt voiced his excitement about getting back on the field after a seven-game absence.

“I am very excited,” Watt said via ESPN. “It’s just been a long time coming. Just feel very, very good about the week that I had and excited to play.”

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year had been sidelined with a torn pectoral muscle that he suffered in the final minutes of regulation in the Week 1 win against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Initial reports suggested that he could miss the rest of the season, but he has put himself in the position to return after only two months. Watt is a game-changing factor and one of the league’s top defensive talents.

His return will give the Steelers a defensive presence that they have sorely missed through the first nine weeks of the season. Pittsburgh has tallied 15 sacks, which is the sixth fewest in the league.

Through his first five seasons, Watt totaled 72 sacks in 77 regular-season games. He’s coming off tying the NFL record with 22.5 sacks with five forced fumbles while racking up double-digit sack totals in each of the four campaigns.

Watt isn’t expected to be limited on a play count in his return. The Steelers are likely out of the playoff picture, but Watt’s return does improve those chances.
