Stefon Diggs Makes Stunning Claim in First Commanders Media Session
As star wide receiver Stefon Diggs embarks on his next journey with the Washington Commanders, he has set the bar for expectations quite high.
In his first media session on Friday since joining the Commanders, Diggs voiced that he thinks he can be the best wide receiver in the league.
“I say 2 on camera,” Diggs said via ESPN, “but in my heart, I’m going to say [best] No. 1.”
Diggs has never lacked confidence in his ability, but his previous remarks came after he returned from a torn ACL in the 2024 season. He found his footing again in his lone campaign last year with the New England Patriots, as he finished with 1,013 receiving yards, which marked his seventh 1,000 receiving-yard campaign in the last eight seasons.
Diggs played a significant part in helping push the Patriots toward a Super Bowl before, but fell short against the Seattle Seahawks. His resurgent 2025 campaign set the table for increased confidence in his ability heading into next season.
“I’ve always been productive,” Diggs said. “Hopefully, I can be a piece in that process and lead this team in the right direction. I’m here to bring positive energy and the dog mindset.”
He is joining an offense that already features a clear No.1 passing game option in Terry McLaurin, who is coming off an injury-riddled 2025 season where he recorded 38 catches for 582 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 10 games.
