Stefon Diggs Lands With Commanders, and His Contract Has an Intriguing Twist
The Washington Commanders added another offensive weapon to the mix after agreeing to a one-year deal with former Pro Bowl wideout Stefon Diggs. The deal is worth up to $12 million.
It marks the third different team for Diggs over the last three seasons. He’s coming off a resurgent 2025 lone campaign with the New England Patriots, where he recorded 85 catches on 102 targets for 1,013 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
It comes after he missed nine games due to a torn ACL. Diggs was a primary factor in helping guide the Patriots to the Super Bowl as their leading receiving threat
He has notched 1,000 receiving yards in seven out of the last eight seasons.
The Patriots decided to part ways with Diggs at the start of the new league year in March. He dealt with off-the-field issues that likely played a factor in New England deciding to head in another direction only a year into his three-year, $69 million deal.
Diggs will quickly step into a primary passing game factor next to Pro Bowl wideout Terry McLaurin. The Commanders lacked wide receiver depth last season, leading them to revamp the position through this year’s draft by selecting Antonio Williams in the third round.

Washington will also lean on Luke McCaffrey and Treylon Burks to get stability next season. The Commanders are coming off a disappointing 2025 campaign that was marred by injury, highlighted by rising star quarterback Jayden Daniels missing the bulk of the year.
