Texans star WR Stefon Diggs out for the season with knee injury

Much like last season, the Houston Texans are one of the best teams in the NFL, with quarterback CJ Stroud and company sporting a 6-2 record after getting the best of Anthony Richardson and the division-rival Indianapolis Colts in Week 8.

Although the Texans are winning games consistently and appear to be headed to the NFL playoffs once again, the team suffered a massive blow this week, which will impact the passing game. According to DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN, the team learned that superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the rest of his first season with the Texans.

Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs has a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season, coach DeMeco Ryans announced Tuesday.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans shared his reaction to the news that the team would be without Diggs for the rest of the 2024 NFL season.

“Hurts our team to hear that news. He’s been such an important part to our team and everything that he brought, not only on the field, but off the field. The energy, the leader, the way he worked every single day,” Ryans said. “Have to pick up the slack. A lot of guys have to step up and pick up the slack. Definitely praying for him.”

Ryans valued what Diggs brought to the table for the Texans on the field and off of it as a leader in the locker room, which shows how much of a loss this is for Houston moving forward.

Stroud also reacted to the news on Tuesday and how bad he feels for the veteran wide receiver who was getting a fresh start in Houston via ESPN.

“Yeah man, [Diggs’ injury] sucks. It’s not easy,” Stroud said. “You try to think positively but it’s not a bunch of positive thoughts. And I just really feel bad for him.”

Fortunately for Houston, the team will be getting star wide receiver Nico Collins back sooner rather than later, which should help soften the blow of losing Diggs for the year.
