What Travis Kelce Said About His Future Will Fire Up Chiefs Fans
Entering his 14th NFL season, there is no wavering in Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce’s confidence in his ability.
The 36-year-old voiced that he believes he can still play at an elite level ahead of what could be his final campaign.
“I’ve still got a lot of love for this game,” Kelce said Wednesday via ESPN. “I want to go out there and prove to myself that I can play at a better level than I did last year. That’s probably the biggest thing for me, is making sure I’m accountable to the guys in this [locker] room and every single play that I’m out there.”
Although Kelce’s production was down from his typical high level, he still led the team with 76 receptions for 851 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He also led the Chiefs with 108 targets and 45 first downs.

Kelce is hoping to build on his struggles last year to help elevate Kansas City back into Super Bowl contention.
“[Just] being more accountable when the ball is in the air,” Kelce said. “There were a few games last year that I felt like I put on myself. In the blocking world, being able to get my guy so we can spring guys for bigger gains. And just being a better leader.
“When we get stuck with adversity hitting, who’s going to want to be in that foxhole with you. I want to be one of those guys everybody counts on to get us out of that foxhole.”
Kelce will remain a huge fixture in the Chiefs’ offensive identity, but the priority will be to have star quarterback Patrick Mahomes ready to go to make those lofty expectations viable.
