Viking sign superstar WR Justin Jefferson to massive extension

After months of speculation and uncertainty, the Minnesota Vikings secured star wide receiver Justin Jefferson to a four-year, $140 million deal.

The All-Pro’s new deal makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history while he’s earning a $110 million guaranteed with $88.7 million due at signing. Jefferson’s new contract will run through the 2028 season, making the face of the franchise.

“The time has finally come. The deal I’ve been waiting for since I was a little kid,” Jefferson said in a video posted to Instagram. “Being doubted my whole career. Not being highly recruited. Not being the first receiver off the draft board. This whole journey wasn’t easy for me. … To be given a gift to play football at the highest level, it’s a blessing. It’s an honor.”

Before the new deal, Jefferson was heading into the fifth-year option of his rookie deal, but the Vikings have secured him for the long haul.

Since entering the league, Jefferson has proven to be one of the league’s best offensive talents, recording 392 receptions for 5,899 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns.

That includes setting the league record for most receiving yards in his first three seasons (4,825) while posting more than 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first four years.

Jefferson is two seasons removed from earning the Offensive Player of the Year after posting 128 catches for 1,809 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He has three Pro Bowl selections, a First-Team All-Pro nod, and two Second-Team All-Pro selections.
