Vikings star Adam Thielen not worried about the post-Stefon Diggs future

Over the last couple of seasons, the Minnesota Vikings possessed one of the top wide receiver duos in the league.

That saw the Vikings have a sizable shakeup at the position with disgruntled Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs getting traded to the Buffalo Bills. Despite that, star wideout Adam Theilen has voiced that Minnesota’s passing game will be different but still poise strong talent. (H/T Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk)

“Nobody probably knows about the depth of our room, and the guys that we’ve got coming in,” Thielen said. “But I’ve been around a few of those guys, been able to train with them and work out with them. I’m just really excited about our room. Whether it be young guys or some veterans that we added. It’s going to be different, but it’s going to be good.”

The loss of Diggs is a significant hole to fill, but there is no lack of confidence from Thielen that his teammates can fill that gap. The Pro Bowler will continue to be the top receiving option, but it will need rookie wideout Justin Jefferson to step firmly into that second option role.

Jefferson will have the chance to showcase he can fill that role from the get-go as he will get every opportunity to shine. That may see a more prominent role for Thielen to begin the year, but it’s not one he can’t manage given what he’s shown over the last few seasons. Words can only go so far as it will have to be proven on the field.
