Wizards PG John Wall working on contract buyout with Adidas

It has been nothing short of a tough go-around for Washington Wizards star point guard John Wall. His luck has ran out over the last several months as he’s been dealing with injuries.

All this has placed Wall in the position of where Adidas has engaged in a contract buyout with him just two years into their five-year deal, according to Nick DePaula of ESPN.

All-Star point guard John Wall and Adidas are engaged in ongoing buyout negotiations that will soon bring his five-year footwear and apparel endorsement deal to an end less than two years into the agreement, industry sources told ESPN.

The news shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. After all, Wall has struggled to stay on the court over the last few seasons. He is expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season due to a ruptured left Achilles tendon that occurred in February.

It was only reasonable to believe that Adidas would move out of the deal. Unfortunately, Wall has become an injury-prone player. His inability to stay healthy hasn’t helped his endorsement deal, but at the same time, it could allow him to latch onto another company as he works his way back onto the court.

The Wizards have also stuck firm to being committed to him despite his injury woes. The team recently agreed to a two-year, $72 million extension with All-Star guard Bradley Beal to keep him in place for possibly the long haul. In the meantime, Wall will focus on his recovery as he has recently begun working on the court.
