Nuggets @ Bulls Preview

The Chicago Bulls look as though they may be unsinkable, as they continue to play solid basketball, despite and apparent attempt at the behest of management to get the team to tank.

The Bulls tout one of the best, if not THE best, defenses in the NBA.  They are within half-a-game of overtaking the Toronto Raptors as the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference.  Lastly, they have won four games in a row.

Tonight, in ESPN’s marquee game, the Bulls will take on the Denver Nuggets.  The Nuggets are within reach of a seed in the Western Conference, about seven games behind the No. 8 seeded Dallas Mavericks. However, the Nuggets have not been playing well as of late.  They just recently ended a five-game skid. They are 3-7 on their last ten and now have Chicago standing in their way.  Chicago may not be as intimidating to the Nuggets as it may seem, though.

The last five times these two teams have met each other, Chicago has come up on the losing end.

The Bulls are playing excellent basketball, though.  While their shooting percentage is still under 50 percent (48.2 percent), in their last four wins they have limited teams to just 84.8 points a game.  Factor that into the season and they are limiting teams to an average of 93 points a game.

The last time these two teams met was way back on Nov. 21.  The Nuggets won 97-87 and were able to hold the Bulls to just 38.8 percent shooting. If the Nuggets claim the victory tonight it will be the longest streak in the series history and if the Nuggets want to have any hope of clawing their way back to a post-season run, then claiming that record is a good place to start.

Chicago is the -7 point favorites according to the spread at Bovada.  You can watch this game on ESPN it starts at 8 p.m. ET.
