Nuggets sign Nikola Jokic to biggest extension in NBA history
Nikola Jokić is poised to sign the largest contract in NBA history.
The two-time league MVP has agreed to a five-year, $264 million supermax contract extension to remain with the Nuggets, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The final season of the agreement, 2027-28, will be a player option valued at $60 million.
The 27-year-old Jokić earned his second consecutive NBA MVP award this past season, averaging 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game for Denver. The Nuggets went 48-34 and lost to the eventual-champion Warriors, 4-1, in the first round of the playoffs.
Jokić, who has earned All-Star recognition each of the past four seasons, was a second-round draft pick by Denver in 2014. He boasts career averages of 19.7 points, 10.4 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game over the course of his seven NBA seasons.
