O.J. Simpson Movie Big Oscar Favorite
O.J. Simpson is in the news once again, as it turns out he may be released from prison as early as this summer. Simpson has been in jail in Nevada since 2008 after being convicted of 12 charges stemming from a hotel incident. According to Sports Illustrated, Simpson scores between 0 and 2 points on the scale used at Lovelock Correctional Center, where he is held.
Simpson originally received a 33-year sentence, but Nevada Parole Board gave him parole on some charges in 2013, making him eligible this year for release.
Despite being locked up for the past nine years, Simpson continues to draw the attention of people, mainly filmmakers. O.J.: Made in America is a huge favorite to win the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. At Bovada, the film is -900 to win. The next choice is 13th at +450.
The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story has also been doing well. It won the Golden Globe this year for Limited Series Motion Picture Made for Television.
Sarah Paulson also won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor for her role as Marcia Clark at the Screen Actors Guild.
Simpson may or may not be freed this summer; parole boards are hard to predict. But O.J. is never far from the eyes of the public.
