Odds Favor Underdog (Cavaliers) in NBA Finals Game 2
On Sunday, Game 2 of the NBA Finals best of seven series tips off from Oracle Arena in Oakland, California when the Cleveland Cavaliers visit the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors routed the Cavaliers in Game 1.
The current line has Golden State favored by 8.5 points with the over/under point total on 220.5.
Golden State’s 22-point win on Thursday night in Game 1 sent a big message to Cleveland. Forward Kevin Durant and point guard Stephen Curry were the offensive catalysts for the Warriors.
Durant has not been in the Finals since losing to LeBron James and Miami in 2012, while he was with the Oklahoma City Thunder. In Game 1, Durant scored 38 points, grabbed 8 boards, handed out 8 assists and did not turn the ball over.
Cleveland was defeated in Game 1 last season in the NBA Finals, and was down 3-1 before rallying to win three straight and the NBA title, so James has not started to panic yet. James said the team made too many mistakes and needs to correct that for Game 2.
The new additions to the Cavaliers from last season Derrick Williams, Deron Williams and Kyle Korver were 0 for 9 shooting and scoreless in Game 1. James scored 28 points, grabbed 15 boards and handed out 8 assists, but committed 8 of Cleveland’s 20 turnovers.
Golden State only committed 4 turnovers in Game 1. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green shot a combined 6 from 28 from the field for the Warriors.
Curry hit 11 of his 22 shots while Durant hit 14 of his 26. Curry also dished out 10 assists. The Warriors defense held Cleveland to 35% shooting in Game 1.
Golden State is now 13-0 during the postseason and attempting to become the first NBA team to go the entire postseason without a defeat.
The 91 points scored by Cleveland in Game 1 on Thursday was the first time during the current postseason, the Cavaliers have scored less than 108 points.
Steve Kerr the head coach for Golden State did not coach during Game 1 but will reportedly be on the bench for Game 2 on Sunday.
Cleveland is 7-1-1 against the spread in its past 9 games on the road.
Golden State is 5-1 ATS in its past 6 games versus opponents from the Central division.
Prediction: Odds show underdogs in Game 2 of the NBA Finals come back from Game 1 losses ATS and SU. I agree, lean here toward the Cavaliers and the points.
