Odds to win the 2013-2014 Big Ten Conference

College football is currently in the midst of week number two of fall practice.  Taking this into consideration there is not a better time to look over the updated future odds for some of the various conferences.  Today we are going to look at the odds to capture the the 2013-2014 Big Ten Conference Championship.

Ohio State – 5/6

Not only is Ohio State the team with the best odds to win the Big Ten Conference, they are also the team in the Big 10 with the best odds to win the BCS championship with 6/1 odds to win the National Title.  That is good enough to be the team with the second best odds at winning the BSC Championship out of the entire NCAA.

The Buckeyes have 18 returning starters from last year when they had a perfect record in the B1G at 12-0.  If they were not prevented from a postseason run due to sanction many believe they would have won it all.

With their returning starters and x-factor freshmen like Dontre Wilson and Ezekiel Elliott, the Buckeyes are going to be a force to be reckoned with this upcoming season.

Michigan – 7/2

If any team has the talent (and a chance) to rival the Buckeyes in the B1G it is Michigan.  In their last meetings, Michigan gave OSU a run for their money losing 21-26.  With the Wolverines returning 12 starters and the Buckeyes also returning a lot of starters, one has to imagine that if any team in the conference is going to challenge Ohio State this season it will be Michigan.

Rounding Out The Odds

Let’s be honest, no one is really expecting the Buckeyes to be rivaled by anyone in the Big 1G, but then again stranger things have happened.  Northwestern, for example, enjoyed a big surge last season going 10-3.  However, Northwestern has only beat OSU once in like a million games.  That may be hyperbole but only in the slightest way (They are 1-28 over 4 decades of playing OSU).
