Oklahoma Gets a Rematch with Notre Dame
Notre Dame defeated Oklahoma last season en route to the national championship game. While the Irish have an explosive passing offense this year, Oklahoma is the higher ranked team (No. 14) while Notre Dame is the No. 22-ranked team in the nation. Still, Irish head coach Brian Kelly says he’s dedicated to running the ball.
“If (opponents) think that they can prevent us from throwing the ball over their heads, then we may see (man-to-man defense) again. If they don’t, they’ll play more zone and give us an opportunity to run the football,” Kelly said. “Teams will have to decide how they want to play us. But they know what we’re going to do if they play man to man.”
“They’re going to put it up in every game a good number of times,” Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said. “(Rees) throws an excellent ball, and they have confidence in their receivers going up and getting it. That’s definitely something we’re aware of and something we need to be able to defend.”
Oklahoma is undefeated this season, and looks to put last year’s mistakes behind them as they take on a 3-1 Notre Dame team that lost handily to Michigan in Week 2 of the season.
