Packers Look To Rebound Versus Jets

The Green Bay Packers will be looking to win against the New York Jets today as they attempt to rebound from being blown out by the Seattle Seahawks in their season opener.

The Packers will be glad to be at Lambeau Field to host the Jets and are the favorites to win this one with a -8 point spread as of this writing. They opened at 9 point favorites. The total over/under is 46.

The Jets are not a loss cause despite being under dogs. They are coming off a 19-14 home-game win against Oakland last week. The Jets have won from an underdog position in three of their last four road games as underdogs.

The Jets will not cover the point spread today, however, unless they find a way to punch in touchdowns in red zone situations. They had to settle for four field goals against Oakland.

The key for the Jets is their run game. Chris Ivory had 102 yards on 12 carries last week. Chris Johnson had 68 yards on 13 carries. Those numbers could be much higher against the Green Bay Packers, whose weakness is run defense as shown against the Seahawks in Week 1.

The Jets faced off against a rookie quarterback last week. This week they face an All-Pro quarterback in Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers have one of the best offenses in the NFL despite Rodgers’ less than stellar game last week. He threw an interception with 189 yards and one touchdown. Expect Rodgers to air it out a lot this game. Running back Eddie Lacy is questionable for the game with a concussion.

The Jets should be able to keep pace with the Packers, though a win for the team is unlikely. It will be the defensive line that keeps the Packers out of the end zone.

One betting trend that should be noted is that the Packers have failed to cover the spread in their last five games at Lambeau field.

The game starts today at 4:25 p.m. ET.
