Packers Try To Take Away Saints’ Home Field Advantage
Over the last few season, the New Orleans Saints have built a reputation as a team that is nearly impossible to beat at home. Not only that, but for bettors, they have proven to be a team that is easy to bet on when playing in the Superdome. The Saints are 21-5-1 against the spread when playing at home since 2011.
The Saints are rarely underdogs at home and that is no different when they take on the Green Bay Packers. The Saints having a losing record, though they are still favorites with a -1 point spread, the smallest point spread they have had as favorites at home since 2011.
The Green Bay Packers look like the head-and-shoulder better team on paper. They have won four games in a row lifting them to the top of the NFC North (tied with the Detroit Lions) and are 4-2-1 against the spread.
Compare that to the Saints who are 2-4 this season and desperately need to get something going. Regardless, the past says the Saints very rarely lose at home, thus they are slight favorites to win this game.
The Saints have been falling back on the play of Drew Brees who has been struggling to get the job done alone this season. He did, however, lead his team back from an 11-point deficit with only 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the team’s last home game. In other words, that home-field magic still may be there.
The total is set at 55.5 points. Â The Packers are 6-1 on the over this season. The Saints have also hit the over 5-1 times this season, making the over a favorite place for bettors to put money on this game.
The Packers and the Saints will play on Sunday Night Football on NBC at 8:30 p.m. ET.
