Packers WR Randall Cobb ‘doubtful’ for Week 3; Jordy Nelson ‘questionable’
The Green Bay Packers are hoping to bounce back in Week 3 against the struggling Cincinnati Bengals after falling to Matt Ryan’s Atlanta Falcons last week. Although the Packers will have a good chance of getting over .500 this week, they may have to do it without some of their best offensive weapons.
According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson could both miss Week 3 against the Bengals.
Green Bay lists wide receiver Randall Cobb (chest) as doubtful, and wide receiver Jordy Nelson (quadriceps) as questionable. Nelson could move to the slot, with Geronimo Allison and Davante Adams outside if Cobb can’t play.
Nelson and Cobb have been a dynamic wide receiver duo for superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers for a few years now. These two veterans cause a lot of problems for opposing defenses when they’re on the field at the same time.
If one or both players are officially ruled out for Sunday’s game, Rodgers could look to Davante Adams to shoulder the load in the receiving corps. Adams has played well recently while quickly emerging as one of Rodgers’ favorite targets downfield.
Although Cobb remains the team’s leading receiver coming into Week 3 with 15 catches thus far, Adams has been targeted 17 times with 11 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown. Green Bay may be able to get by without their star tandem at wide receiver while leaning on Adams against the lowly Bengals.
