Panthers QB Cam Newton had should surgery
The Carolina Panthers announced on Thursday that former MVP quarterback Cam Newton has undergone successful surgery to replace a partially torn rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder.
It was reported earlier in the month that Newton would need surgery. Though, one has to wonder why it took so long for the procedure to itself to be conducted.
In announcing that Newton has undergone surgery, head athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion had this to say.
“Head team physician Dr. Pat Connor performed surgery this morning at Carolinas Medical Center to repair Cam Newton’s partially torn rotator cuff,†Vermillion said, via the team’s official website. “Dr. Connor was pleased with the results of the surgery and Cam is at home resting. He will begin his rehab program Monday.â€
Newton is expected to be back in time for training camp, but will miss the team’s entire off-season program. It’s a less than ideal situation for a team that’s coming off a disastrous six-win season.
