Patrick Peterson issues statement on Cardinals trade rumors

Multiple reports earlier this week indicated that Arizona Cardinals All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson had requested a trade from the struggling franchise.

While the Cardinals themselves were quick to deny that Peterson is in fact on the trade block, it seems to make sense. Arizona heads into Week 8 with a 1-6 record and is in the beginning stages of a rebuild. As a result, at 28 years old, Peterson might be looking to latch on with a contender.

In speaking about said trade rumors, Peterson reaffirmed his commitment to the Cardinals. Additionally, he seemed to suggest that he’s not looking to be traded.

In no way does this mean Peterson won’t be traded. There will be a plethora of teams interested in his services if he is indeed put on the market between now and the Oct. 30 deadline.

Instead, it’s the future Hall of Famer’s way of reaffirming his commitment to the Cardinals. That can’t be seen as a bad thing.
