Patriots re-sign Pro Bowl kicker Stephen Gostkowski

Four-time Pro Bowl kicker and three-time Super Bowl champion Stephen Gostkowski will play a 14th and 15th NFL season. He will play it in the only NFL city he has known.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New England Patriots have re-signed their longtime kicker to a two-year contract.

This is especially interesting timing in that it was reported earlier on Tuesday that the San Francisco 49ers had interest in signing Stephen Gostkowski.

It also shores up an important position for the defending champions. Whether Adam Vinatieri before him or Gostkowski, this is one position that’s been a constant for Tom Brady and Co. during their two-decade-long dynasty.

Gostkowski, 35, nailed 27-of-32 field goal attempts this past season.
