Percy Harvin’s Former Teammate Golden Tate Responds to Reports of Violence Via Social Media

Late Friday afternoon news broke that Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin had been traded to the New York Jets. The news was shocking, not only because high profile in-season trades are rare in the NFL, but because the Seahawks got only a conditional mid-round draft pick for him.

The minimal compensation received for Harvin led to immediate speculation about problems brewing behind the scenes. It didn’t take long before stories about began to leak out, revealing that behind the friendly smile, Harvin has some serious anger management issues.

Pro Football Talk first reported that Harvin and former teammate Golden Tate, who is now with the Detroit Lions, got into a serious altercation prior to the Super Bowl. During the altercation Harvin slammed Tate to the hotel floor with such force that teammates initially feared broke Tate’s neck.

The Seattle Times revealed another incident in which Harvin and Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin fought at some point in the days leading up to their final preseason game this season. Both players were dismissed from practices that week and Harvin didn’t make the trip to Oakland or play in the game.

And according to Lance Zierlein of Sports Talk 790, he even got into it with quarterback Russell Wilson, seemingly one of the nicest and cool-headed guys in the league, on more than one occasion.

Neither Baldwin or Wilson commented publicly about the reports, but Tate responded via a RT on Twitter and a subsequent post on Instagram:
