Raiders QB Derek Carr set to make return against Chargers
Two weeks ago, the Oakland Raiders suffered what appeared to be a devastating loss with star quarterback Derek Carr going down with a back injury. Carr’s injury was expected to keep him out anywhere between two and six weeks, but now he’ll be able to return to the gridiron for Week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
According to ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez, Carr practiced fully on Friday and will be the team’s starter on Sunday in Oakland.
Derek Carr came off the Oakland Raiders injury report on Friday after he was a full participant in practice, and as expected he will start at quarterback Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Raiders are in desperate need of a win after losing three straight beginning with an embarrassing loss to the Washington Redskins. Oakland got off to a promising start to the season with two consecutive wins against the Tennessee Titans and New York Jets, but have yet to get back on track since losing to Washington in Week 3.
Even with Carr under center, Oakland struggled with the offensive line not as dominant as it was last season nor the defense anywhere close to improved. The defense was the team’s biggest flaw last year with only Khalil Mack standing out as a game changer for the silver and black.
Although the Chargers have only won one game this season, these divisional matchups between these two rivals are always close meaning Los Angeles will be by no means a pushover in Week 6 for the returning Carr.
