Despite an alarming display of roster clearing by Jon Gruden and the Oakland Raiders, quarterback Derek Carr is reportedly not in danger of being traded.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Raiders have assured Carr that he’s going to remain with the team and will be its quarterback “for the foreseeable future.â€
Schefter notes Carr “is expected to remain as their starting quarterback for the rest of the season and likely next season as well, according to sources.â€
Carr has struggled in his first season under Gruden. Though he’s completing a very high percentage of his passes (71.7), he’s been prone to the big mistake. So far, the quarterback has thrown seven touchdowns and eight interceptions.
This has led many to speculate that Carr could be next on the list of high-profile Raiders who get shipped out in Gruden’s first year. But that isn’t in the works, at least for now.
Carr signed a then-record contract extension with Oakland last summer and is due to make an average of $22 million the next three seasons.
