Redskins WR DeSean Jackson Expected to Sign With Buccaneers

USA Today

Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson will be one of the top free agent receivers when the league opens for business next week. He’s already been linked to the Philadelphia Eagles in what would be a reunion for the two sides. That makes sense considering Philadelphia will be looking for a top-end receiver in free agency.

Though, another team has now emerged as the most-likely destination for the 30-year-old three-time Pro Bowler.

“The belief right now is Jackson will end up with the Tampa Bay Bucs, as the combination of weather, a big-armed passer in Jameis Winston and no state tax will make it tough for any other team to match,” NFL insider Tony Pauline reported on Saturday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers make a ton of sense for Jackson. With Mike Evans acting as Jameis Winston’s top receiver, the team could use a down-field threat. Coming off a 2016 campaign that saw him put up a league-leading 17.9 yards per reception, Jackson fits Tampa Bay big time. This is only magnified by Winston’s recent endorsement of Jackson.

Pauline went on to indicate that Jackson’s next contract will pay him roughly $12 million per season. Tampa Bay is a projected $69.9 million under the cap heading into free agency.
