Rockets @ Nets Preview

The Brooklyn Nets are winning games at exactly the right time.

Once thought to a dark horse to even make the playoffs the Nets now find themselves on the verge of breaking the franchise record for most win at home.

The Houston Rockets will be coming into Brooklyn looking to break up this little Cinderella story, even if they have to do it without Dwight Howard.

This game for the Nets is, of course about the playoffs, but Brooklyn fans and the team itself would by lying to itself if they try to say the home game win streak is not on their minds.  If they make it past the Rockets it will be their 14th straight home victory.

The Nets did not look good early in the season.  They’re own fans even booed them at home.  They have since moved to a 39-33 and have given their fans a reason to cheer with their home-game win steak.

In their last game on Sunday, the Nets rolled past Minnesota to tie the current franchise record and also matched the longest home-court run of the current season.

The Brooklyn Nets are on the verge of a franchise-record home winning streak, thanks in part to an outstanding effort on the defensive end.

The Nets look to continue their push toward the playoffs with a 14th straight home victory Tuesday night, though they’ll have to snap a 14-game losing streak to the Rockets to reach that mark.

The Nets are doing all this without Kevin Garnet and Andrei Kirilenko who are not expected to return until toward the end of the week.  With that said the Houston Rockets find themselves in a similar situation.

The Rockets will be without two of their starters.  Dwight Howard has been on and off the bench all season, while Pat Beverley is now listed as out indefinitely. However, the Rockets are not exactly struggling without their fallen comrades.  James Harden has scored an average of 31.5 points per game.

The Rockets also have a streak of their own to maintain in this game.  They have beat the Nets 14 consecutive times.

The Nets opening odds pegged them as the -2.5 favorites to win this game.  The game is Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.
