Saints Play Patriots in AFC East Game of the Week

The New Orleans Saints beat the Chicago Bears 26-18 in Soldier Field last weekend, and their win was even more convincing than the score suggested. Drew Brees had another near-flawless game, completing 29 of 35 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns. Brees’ All-Pro tight end, Jimmy Graham, had another monstrous performance himself, catching ten balls for 135 yards.

“We knew the formula coming into this game was to remain patient, to run the football effectively, to be very efficient in the passing game and to take care of the football, priority No. 1,” Brees said, “and we were able to do all those things.”

“I’m just blessed to be with such a great quarterback and a guy who has so much trust in me,” Graham said.

The Patriots, meanwhile, lost an absolutely atrocious game to the Cincinnati Bengals by the score of 13-6. Quarterback Tom Brady threw for under 200 yards the second time already this season in the loss.

“You can’t expect to kick two field goals and win many games in the NFL,” said Brady. “We can do a better job than that, and we are going to have to if we want to win these games. We had too many silly execution errors and mental mistakes today. It is hard to drive the ball down the field if you keep making those mistakes.”

The Pats expect to have Rob Gronkowski back on the field against the Saints, though it’s unclear if he’ll be playing at 100 percent after a series of offseason surgeries. All told, despite being underdogs, the New Orleans Saints should be able to earn a big win up in New England this weekend.
