San Francisco 49ers Underdogs On The Road Against Pittsburgh Steelers
Coming into the 2015 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers were thought to be a team with little chance of reclaiming their form as a perennial playoff team in the NFC. Colin Kaepernick was one of the few stars on the team left in the Bay Area with a number of different key players either retiring or heading elsewhere in one form or another.
Despite almost everyone writing off Kaepernick and company heading into the season, the 49ers were one of the most surprising teams in Week 1. San Francisco were able to defend their home field on the biggest stage of Monday Night Football against the visiting Minnesota Vikings. Although the Vikings had gotten a lot of buzz for potentially being a team to watch in the NFC, San Francisco dominated from the word go leading to a convincing victory and quite a few doubters thinking twice about the 49ers.
In Week 2, the 49ers will head on the road in their first game away from Levi’s Stadium to face perhaps one of the toughest teams in the AFC. The Pittsburgh Steelers will play host to the 49ers as the favorite with a -6 point spread, according to Sportsbook.ag.
Pittsburgh played in the NFL season opener against the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. Despite a valiant effort, Ben Roethlisberger and company fell to Tom Brady’s Patriots. The Steelers will now look to defend their home field for the first time this season and will be prepared for a 49ers squad that is better than expected.
Although I believe the Steelers will come out on top in this matchup, even with Le’Veon Bell still on suspension, San Francisco should put up a fight. Taking the 49ers at +6 seems like a safe bet.
