Sixers’ Joel Embiid suffers fractured orbital bone, out indefinitely
A day after suffering a head injury after a collision with teammate Markelle Fultz, it looks like Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid is going to be out for a while.
The team announced on Thursday that Embiid is in the concussion protocol and will actually undergo surgery to repair an orbital fracture to the face. He’s out indefinitely.

It was previously noted that Embiid would not join the Sixers on their coming two-game road trip. But this now seems to be a longer-term injury.
Embiid is averaging 22.9 points, 11 rebounds and 1.8 blocks on the season. This injury comes with his Sixers currently as the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.
With less than two weeks remaining in the regular season it’s not yet known whether Embiid will return in time for the playoffs.
