St. Norbert Favorite to Win Midwest Conference
The St. Norbert Green Knights are the favorites in bot the odds and according to a recent coaches poll to win the Midwest conference.
St. Norbert was one of the winners in the MWC in 2012. Â St. Norbert has played in their conference playoff two of the last three years and has racked up 14 MWC Championships in its history.
St. Norbert was just able to edge out Illinois Col. for the top spot in the coaches poll. Â The Green Knights got 92 votes compared to the Blueboys 89 points. Â Illinois Col. Â went 8-2 last season. Â That record was only good enough to finish fourth place in the division so most seem to expect the Blueboys to have improved. Â Carroll was in third place with 82 points. Â Monmouth was not far behind with 71 points.
Lake Forrest, the team that St. Norbert shared the MWC Championship with alst year, is far behind with 70 points.  Ripon followed with 52 points and barely edged out Cornell.  Cornell is making their return to the MWC and have 52 points.  Grinnell , Knox , Lawrence and Beloit  round out the rest of the list in that order.
Many notable starter are returning to the MWC. Â However, the conference has gotten a major shake-up with only 42 players overall returning. Â This likely made an analysts on voting rather difficult with lots of question marks still surrounding new recruits.
Unlike other conference, whose season has started or will be starting this week, MWC’s season does not start until September 7.
