On Friday night, Tagovailoa announced that he is transferring to the Maryland Terrapins. It marks another huge recruiting win for head coach Mike Locksley. In Tagovailoa, he’s pulling in one of the most talented players on the transfer market this offseason.

Taulia, the brother of Tua Tagovailoa, was a four-star recruit in the 2019 recruiting class. He followed his brother to Alabama and even saw limited playing time this past season. He threw for 100 yards and a touchdown on just 12 attempts.

Once Tua declared for the 2020 NFL Draft and Alabama signed five-star quarterback Bryce Young, a transfer seemed inevitable for Taulia. While he leaves behind a great program at Alabama, he could see even greater opportunities at Maryland.

Taulia will be reuniting with Locksley, who played a key role in recruiting the young quarterback to Alabama. Now that Locksley is back at Maryland and running the program, he is quickly starting to put together a team with a promising future.
