Thunder Look To Stop Flying-High Hawks

The Oklahoma City Thunder will be looking to hand the Atlanta Hawks their first loss in 14 games tonight at the Phillips Arena.

The Hawks are the 4.5-point favorites against the Thunder and are putting a 14-game winning streak on the line. If Atlanta can pick up the win tonight it will set a franchise record.

The Hawks are an unlikely team to be experience this amount of success. They have risen to the top of the East and have the most wins in the NBA without a “big” star on their roster.

The Hawks are 31-12 against the spread and have covered in their last five games.

In their last game Atlanta won 110-91 against the Indiana Pacers. They covered a 10.5 points spread as favorites.

The Thunder, though, may pose the biggest threat to the Hawks winning streak that they have faced yet.

Oklahoma City finally has seemed to find their footing and is on a bit of a streak of their own, winning their last four games.

Both Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook seemed to have returned to form. In their last outing, a 105-103 win against the Washington Wizards, Durant scored 34 points, while Westbrook 32 points. The Thunder covered a 1-point spread in that game as underdogs.

Durant will be key to a Thunder victory tonight. Durant has averaged over 37 points against the Hawks in his last three games against them. Back on Jan. 27 of last year, Durant put up 41 points, including a buzzer-beating jumper to give the Thunder the win. OKC has also won four straight against Atlanta.

Over their last five wins, the Thunder has covered in five of those games.

Most sports books have the total set around 208 points. Both the Hawks and the Thunder sent OVER bettors to the window. However, Atlanta has favored the UNDER in four of its last six games. Oklahoma City has hit the OVER in four of its last five.
