Thursday Night Football: Green Bay Packers Slight Favorites Over Detroit Lions
Over the past few years, superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers has had the Green Bay Packers firing on all cylinders as a legitimate Super Bowl title contender. The Packers always seem to head into the NFL season as the favorite to win the NFC North division and one of the heavyweights in the conference.
Unfortunately, after starting the season with a perfect 6-0 record, Green Bay has lost four of their last five games. After so many dominant years as a perennial title contender, Rodgers and company are starting to struggle with no telling whether they’ll be able to bounce back in time to make a run in the playoffs.
On Thursday night, the Packers will play a crucial divisional game on the road against the rival Detroit Lions. Green Bay is currently in second place in the NFC North with the Minnesota Vikings sitting atop the division standing at 8-3.
According to Sportsbook.ag, the Packers are slightly favored to get the win over the Lions on Thursday night at Ford Field with a -2.5 point spread.
Unlike the Packers, the Lions have been red-hot as of late. Detroit lost seven of their first eight games of the season but have won three straight heading into their divisional showdown with Green Bay on Thursday night. Despite the team’s recent hot streak, Green Bay is the better all-around squad and should get the best of their division rivals. The Packers will cover the -2.5 point spread tonight while coming away with a win on the road in Detroit.
As for the odds to win the NFC North, the Lions have come on strong in the last few weeks, but Detroit (4-7) is still sitting at the bottom of the division standings. The Vikings are currently favored to win the NFC North division title with 5/7 odds followed by the Packers at 6/5.
