What would the training camp part of the year be in the NFL without hearing about how free agent quarterback Tim Tebow could still contribute to a team?

Tebow has not played in a regular season game since 2012 when he was with the New York Jets. However, he spent a significant part of last summer trying to make the Philadelphia Eagles final roster.

Since his release last August, it doesn’t appear Tebow has completely given up the hope of playing in the league and has kept in excellent physical shape.

“I mean, for me, I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in,” Tebow said, per Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports. “I’m still young, I still feel really good. So is that something that I feel like I can be an effective quarterback in the NFL? Yeah, I really do feel like I could be. But I think at the same time, there are a lot of other things that I’m doing that I love and that I’m blessed to do.”

The 28-year-old quarterback also had this to say as to whether he would drop everything and report to training camp should a team in need reach out to him.

“I gotta look at it, I gotta figure out the situation. Not necessarily be opposed to it but you never know.”

Tebow showed splashes of potential during his time with Philly last summer and even threw for a touchdown in the final preseason game.

Talk of Tebow playing other positions in the NFL such as tight end or running back has come up in the past due to his versatility. However, it would appear that quarterback is the only position he would consider.

“And for me, the game of football is the position of quarterback,” Tebow said. “I’ve loved it since I was little boy, looking up to Danny Wuerffel when he was at the University of Florida.”

With training camps kicking off this week and rosters still shifting, it will be interesting to see if any team calls Tebow up.

However, it appears that the team would have to suit his personal needs. Tebow seems quite content with his current status  Meanwhile, him keeping in tip-top physical shape has multiple benefits.
