Timberwolves’ Andrew Wiggins is in ‘no rush’ to sign lucrative contract extension

The Minnesota Timberwolves are a team on the rise in the NBA with a solid young core and some very talented veterans leading the way. Among the young talent is Andrew Wiggins who currently has a lucrative contract extension on the table just waiting to be signed.

The Timberwolves recently offered Wiggins a five-year, $148 million contract extension and it appears the up-and-comer is in no rush to get it signed, via USA Today’s Sam Amick.

“I’m just taking it day by day, you know?” Wiggins told USA TODAY Sports on Saturday. “There’s no rush to do it, yet. I’ve still got some time before the day before that first game.”

“(Minnesota) is definitely where I want to be; definitely where I want to be.” And when asked if he would eventually sign the deal, he said, “Ah, eventually. I’m just going to take it day by day. There’s no rush to do it. We’re going through preseason and I’m all the way here in China.”

Minnesota bolstered the roster this offseason with a lot of movement and welcome additions to an already talented team. Karl-Anthony Towns is arguably the future of the team alongside Wiggins, but the team made a blockbuster deal to acquire Jimmy Butler while also signing Jeff Teague, Taj Gibson, and Jamal Crawford.

The Timberwolves could make a serious push for the playoffs, and if it starts to come together, they may be a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference.
