Tom Brady writes touching tribute for retired Patriots star Julian Edelman

Earlier this week, longtime New England Patriots star wide receiver Julian Edelman retired after 11 seasons. Brady voiced his tremendous appreciation toward Edelman, praising his work ethic and the strong bond the two fostered together on and off the field.

“I was a witness to so much of the journey and am so proud of you and how you grew from 7th round underdog to an older 7th round underdog,” Brady wrote. “The truth is, you never really grew up! You never lost that chip on your shoulder, you never let anyone define you as a person or player.

“You’ve got so many teammates that admired your work ethic and will to win, and I am at the top of the list because when I was down and feeling sorry for myself at times, you were right there to pick me up. You were as tough as could be and I love you for all that you did to make our teams as great as they could possibly be.”

Tom Brady and Edelman spent 10 seasons together, where they developed an impressive repertoire that anchored the passing game. The Kent State product showed when it mattered most in the playoffs as he racked up 118 receptions for 1,442 yards and five touchdowns in 19 postseason games.

Edelman caught 571 passes from Brady, which is more than any other player in the seven-time Super Bowl champion’s career.
