Top 3 MWC Saturday Hoops Games
The Mountain West Conference might not get the respect it deserves, but this year there are three ranked teams from the conference getting plenty of attention and with they way they have played so far, rightfully so. There are three games involving these teams  taking place today, so if you are looking for some non-NFL action this weekend, look no further than these point spreads. Here are the brief breakdowns for each of the top three games in the conference this week:
South Dakota State +15 at #16 New Mexico -15
At 12-0, the Lobos are the only unbeaten team left in the conference and will look to extend their early season streak against South Dakota State today. The Lobos have not been 13-0 in 45 years, but they appear to have a great chance to do it today, as they bring in a balanced team that’s already found more than one way to win.
Although the Lobos will certainly have the edge on their home floor today, SDSU is a team that could give them some problems. After all, this is a team that appeared in last year’s NCAA tournament and is led by dynamic senior guard Nate Wolters, who is averaging nearly 20 points per game, nearly 6 assists and 2 two steals.
The Lobos should win, but they are not accustom to blowing out opponents, so expect the Jackrabbits to keep things close and cover +15 today.
#18 San Diego State -10.5 at San Francisco +10.5
The Aztecs are riding  a nine-game winning streak since dropping their opener and they have a great opportunity to make it 10 in a row today during the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii. Since the game is being played at a neutral site, it definitely won’t hurt the Aztecs, which will already have the edge in this one.
With the Aztecs surging and with the Dons struggling with three straight losses, this seems like a pretty easy one. Go with the Aztecs to cover -10.5 today.
Canisius + 14 at #21 UNLV -13.5
Despite ranking lower than the Lobos and the Aztecs in the polls, because of their history of success and the type of talent they bring to the table, the Running Rebels might be the most highly-touted team coming out of the Mountain West Conference this season.
The Rebels do it well on both sides of the floor, as they have outscored opponents by an average of more than 16 points this season. They also come into to today’s match-up on a eight-game winning streak, which includes a one-point victory over a solid Cal Golden Bears team.
Although most fans won’t be familiar with Canisius, the Golden Griffins have also been playing well lately, coming off an impressive win against Temple, which pushed them to an 8-2 record overall this season.
Still, the Rebels will be too much for the Griffins to handle today, especially at home. Take the Runnin’ Rebs to cover -13.5 in the victory.
