Top Skills Position Players Available in NFL Draft

The NFL Draft begins on Thursday April 25 and skills position players highlight this year’s draft. Quarterback is the focus of most football pundits as the No. 1 overall pick is expected to be former Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray.

However, Murray is not the only talented signal caller that is available this year. Dwayne Haskins from Ohio State is expected to go high in the draft after leading the nation last season in passing yards with 4,831 and touchdowns with 50.

Drew Lock, who played at Missouri, is known for his strong arm, size and athleticism and the quarterback could go as high as No. 10 in the draft and likely will not go any lower than No. 15.

Daniel Jones has great size for a quarterback at 6-foot-5 and 231 pounds. The former Duke QB was coached for three years by David Cutcliffe, who is the same coach that coached two Manning brothers named Peyton and Eli.

Running Back

Running backs do not have a Saquon Barkley or Ezekiel Elliott in their ranks this season. The top back on the list is Josh Jacobs out of Alabama.

Jacobs is hard to tackle, finds holes and can run, catch and block making the former Crimson Tide player the top available running back, but he will not be chosen until the early second round.

After Jacobs, David Montgomery of Iowa State, Darrell Henderson of Memphis, and Damien Harris of Alabama are likely to be the next running backs selected.

Wide Receiver

The first wide receiver is not expected to be drafted until after the top 10 or 15 picks have been made. At the top of the list at wide receiver is D.K. Metcalf from Ole Miss. Metcalf has incredible speed, but has been known to drop passes on occasion.

Marquise Brown out of Oklahoma has great speed and is hard to tackle in the open field. However, he is not tall for a wide out at 5-foot-9. Brown is expected to be a middle first round to middle second round selection.

The list of available skills position players is vast and several quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers are expected to be selected in this week NFL Draft.
