Updated BCS Championship Odds

Bovada recently updated their BCS Championship odds to reflect some of the upsets, wins, losses and injuries that have occurred over the last few weeks of NCAA football.  Let’s take a real look at the BCS Championship odds as college football rolls into a new week of football.

Alabama

6/5

The Crimson Tide have been steam rolling over teams all season long.  Alabama is likely to continue their ways against the Bulldogs this week as they are carrying a lot of momentum and confidence as they head into their home game against the Bulldogs.  In fact, Bovada has Alabama as the overwhelming favorites to beat the Bulldogs.  Mississippi State will have to win against a 24 point spread.

Alabama’s real challenge will come in their next game which is against LSU.  A Crimson Tide loss to LSU could put them on a downward spiral as their late season schedule is a tough one.  Until that happens however, or if it happens, the Crimson Tide currently have the best odds to win the BCS Championship.

Oregon

4/1

Oregon is ranked fourth in the BCS standing but they currently have the second best odds according to the sportsbook at Bovada to win the BCS Championship.

The Ducks have been dominating with their offense scoring an average of 52 points a game.  They will likely continue winning as they take on a 1-6 Colorado team.  Orgeon’s first real challenge, much like Alabama’s, will come on Saturday Nov. 3 when they take on USC, another team with really good odds at taking the BCS Championship. If Oregon can steamroll over USC like they have been other teams all season there will not be much left that can stop the Ducks this season.

Florida

15/2

The Florida Gators remain undefeated, but their victories have not been as decisive or impressive as the monster victories Oregon and Alabama have been getting.  Florida will face their biggest challenge this week against  Georgia, a team the BCS ranks at number 12 in the nation.  Georgia will only have to win against a 7 point spread and Florida has struggled a little against teams that are worse than Georgia.

Florida will need to step up offensively if they hope to compete against the like of the Crimson Tide in the BCS Championships.

Kansas State

15/2

Tied for the third place team most likely to the BCS Championship according to Bovada’s sportsbook is Kansas State.  Kansas State rank first in the Big 12 and will face a huge challenge this Saturday against Texas Tech.  Kansas State are +7 favorites according to the point spread in this game.

Just based on game odds Texas Tech is Kansas State’s biggest challenge of the season.  If they can beat them it should hypothetically be all downhill to an undefeated season for this team and perhaps even a BCS Championship.

USC

10/1

USC already have one loss on their record against Standford and have a very tough schedule ahead facing the terrific offensive team in Arizona and the subsequent games against Oregon and Notre Dame.  The possibility of them lose one, two or all three of those games are very good and they can simply not afford to that.  If they suffer a loss in any of those games this season I expect there BCS Championship odds to slip far.  It is going to be a tough rest of the season for USC.
