Updated BCS Championship Odds: What B1G Teams Have the Best Chance

Bovada has just released some fresh BCS Championship odds now that we have completed Week 1 of college football.  Not surprising, Alabama currently tops the list.  They were also No. 1 on the AP 25 and Coach’s Poll released earlier this week.  However, there were some interesting rankings among B1G schools that are worth looking at especially if you plan on picking a B1G school to win the National Championship.  Here are the three teams most likely to win the BSC National Championship according to the odds.

Ohio State 9/2

Having the second best odds in the entire NCAA is not bad for this B1G team that can finally toss its hat into some post season games this year after last year’s ban.  Ohio State is clearly in full beast-mode after their 40-20 win over Buffalo in Week 1.  Strangely, after their huge win Ohio State dropped down two spots, from No.1 to No.3, in the AP’s top 25 after their win, putting them behind Alabama and Oregon.  Ohio State will be clashing with San Diego State in their next game and are favored to win with an outrageous -28 point spread.

Michigan 28/1

28/1 may not sound like the best odds but Michigan looks like a team that is ready to dominate.  They kicked off their season with a 59-9 victory at home over Central Michigan.  They are currently ranked No. 17 in the AP Poll and the Coach’s Poll, their second straight week at that spot.  However, their true test will come this Saturday night when they take on Notre Dame.  Michigan has had a hard time beating ranked opponents in the past, but if they manage to get past last year’s BCS Championship runner-ups they will shoot up in the rankings and odds.  Michigan is the favorites to win with a -4 point spread.

Northwestern 200/1

Northwestern was able to knockoff California in their season opener 44-30.  They will now have their home-game opener against Syracuse on Saturday and if they keep putting up W’s they will not only rise up in the polls, they currently sit at 19th on the AP Poll and 20th on the Coach’s Pool, but will also rise up in the odds.  Northwestern could be a sleeper team this season.  They are favored to defeat Syracuse with a -16.5 point spread.
