Urban Meyer In The Doghouse With Jacksonville Jaguars

Urban Meyer as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars was always going to be a wild ride. 5 Weeks in, and he’s been publicly admonished by owner Shad Khan.

“I have addressed this matter with Urban. Specifics of our conversation will be held in confidence,” Khan said in a statement released on Tuesday morning.

“What I will say is his conduct last weekend was inexcusable. I appreciate Urban’s remorse, which I believe is sincere. Now, he must regain our trust and respect. That will require a personal commitment from Urban to everyone who supports, represents or plays for our team. I am confident he will deliver.”

The incident in question occurred one day after the Jaguars’ defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals. Two videos of Urban Meyer circulated on social media. One featured him dancing with a woman. The second video showed the Jacksonville coach with his hands on the woman’s bottom.

Urban Meyer has pledged to win back the trust of the Jaguars organisation as it tries to arrest one of the worst slumps in NFL history.

“I made a comment when I got here about the logo, about an owner who wants to win in the worst way,” Meyer said.

“That’s one of the reasons I came here. I just, I admire that guy so much. … And so, that’s what makes me so angry at myself that I lived that, I believe that and I failed.

“And I’ve got to get it [the trust and respect] back, and I will.”

The Jaguars have lost their last 19 games and have begun the NFL regular season 0 – 4. A defeat to the Titans on Sunday would give them the second-longest losing streak in NFL history.

Another six defeats and they would equal the longest ever losing streak held by Tampa Bay (26) in 1976 and 1977.
