Warriors Open As Big Favorites Over Cavs

The NBA Finals are set and the Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Golden State Warriors. The games that sent the Warriors to the finals was just last night but sportsbooks have already began to take bets on Game 1 that will be this next Thursday on ABC.

The odds opened with the Warriors as big favorites. The Warriors have a -230 moneyline to the Cavs +190 to win the series overall. While Game 1 opened with the Cavs hovering around -6-point favorites. The total for Game 1 is set at 203 points.

Golden State are huge favorites, but are they being overvalued by the books?

The Cavs and the Warriors met twice in the regular season. In only one of those games was LeBron James on the court. It was back in February when the Cavs cruised to a 110-99 victory as 3-point favorites. That game’s total hit the UNDER. James had 42 points in that game.

There is no question that both teams are coming into the finals hot and both teams deserve to be here. It just seems the Cavs and Warriors are more evenly matched than the point spread and moneyline are letting on by giving the Warriors the huge edge.

There are a lot of factors to consider when laying money on the total for this game. Both teams will have a week break before the game, meaning both offense may start off the series sluggish, which would make the UNDER the safe bet.
