What’s Wrong With Kendrick Perkins? No, Seriously.

After their game against the Bulls on Thursday night, Thunder center Kendrick Perkins once again proved himself to be among the most unlikable players in the NBA today. As if we needed anymore evidence beyond that unpleasant perma-scowl on that face of his.

The whole thing went down well after the outcome of the game had been decided—Oklahoma City dominated struggling Chicago, defeating them 107-95 at home. Apparently the big win did nothing to improve Perkins’ notoriously sour disposition.

Following the game Thunder shooting guard Thabo Sefolosha invited the Bulls’ Joakim Noah back to the locker room for a friendly visit. They hadn’t been there but a few seconds when Perkins piped up, shouting at Noah from across the room.

Aggrey Sam, CSN Chicago’s Bulls Insider, tweeted about the exchange:

Anthony Slater, the Thunder beat writer for The Oklahoman, transcribed the whole unnecessary incident. And surprise, surprise! Perkins comes off looking like a complete jag and Noah like a very reasonable young man.

This latest incident highlights a disturbing new trend for Perkins, who seems to have a real problem controlling his temper. In February he made headlines after a nasty encounter between his wife and a nail tech at a salon was caught on video.

Not content to leave well enough alone, Perkins showed up on the scene before the police to make his mark on an already bad situation. According to the nail tech, he cussed people out while slamming the door and through Gatorade bottle at the window as the couple fled.

Perkins upped the anger ante in July, when he reportedly punched a woman in the face outside a Houston nightclub. Though the case was initially dismissed, charges of misdemeanor assault were re-filed against Perkins and his brother-in-law in October.

There’s no question the year in Kendrick Perkins has been an ugly one, so his irrational freakout at Noah is actually quite a fitting end.

The only real question here is: What the hell is wrong with Kendrick Perkins? Hopefully someone figures out the answer before he gets himself in some seriously trouble for doing something crazy like hitting a woman. Oh wait…
