Browns rookie CB suffers fractured patella at rookie camp

If the Cleveland Browns didn’t have any bad luck, they wouldn’t have any luck at all. It’s a canned statement to make, but in this case it’s absolutely true.

Fresh off putting up one of the best draft classes at the annual event in Philadelphia last month, Cleveland has lost one of its key rookies to a serious injury.

Fourth-round pick Howard Wilson, a cornerback from Houston, suffered a fractured patella during rookie camp on Friday and is likely out for the entire 2017 season.

While Wilson was a mid-round pick, Cleveland’s lack of real proven talent suggested that he had an opportunity for consistent playing time as a rookie. Some experts had the former Houston star pegged as a second-round pick heading into the 2017 NFL Draft.

Outside of Joe Haden, there really isn’t anyone with extensive success to play corner for Cleveland. In fact, Haden himself has struggled through a couple injury-plagued seasons and seems to be a shell of his former Pro Bowl self.
