Stephen Curry Finally Returns for Golden State Warriors

Two-time MVP Stephen Curry made a surprise return to action on Tuesday to help the Warriors win over the Pelicans.

He was brought on with 4 minutes remaining in the first quarter to chants of “MVP”. Returning from a Grade 2 MCL sprain he sustained in March, Stephen Curry helped his team to a 121-161 win.

In Game 2 of the second round series against the New Orleans Pelicans, Curry had 28 points and 7 rebounds.

It took just 11 seconds for Stephen Curry to remind the Golden State Warriors of his quality, scoring a three. It was a moment that jolted the already fervent crowd into life. Coach Steve Kerr described it as a “special moment”.

After waiting for “what felt like an eternity”, he showed his appreciation for the fans after the game.

“Our crowd is crazy in general,” Curry said. “Whatever opportunity they have to pick us up and create that home-court advantage we rely on, that’s big for us.”

Draymond Green described the home fans’ reactions as “pretty loud”:

“Just him walking on the floor. You know, it was kind of electric in there and for him to hit that 3 that fast, it brought a lot of life to the building and a lot of light, spirit. Pretty fitting for sure.”

His 28 points were the most scored by a Golden State Warriors player this season. The Golden State Warriors now lead 2 – 0 in the series, and Curry is delighted to be back in action.

“Real eager as of late trying to get back out there and be with my teammates, and, you know, do what I love to do. To get back out there on the floor, play some playoff basketball and get a big win tonight, it was huge. It was a good feeling. The crowd was crazy and obviously we did what we needed to do in these first two games.”
