Chris Paul on Player Activism Inside the NBA Bubble
OKC star Chris Paul has revealed how the Orlando bubble dynamic has accelerated NBA players’ ability to discuss their activism.
The 35-year-old says that players from different teams can talk to each other in a way they couldn’t before.
Like LeBron James, Chris Paul has also started a racial justice initiative called the Social Change Fund.
If this continues, it is feasible that NBA players could have a massive influence on the upcoming presidential election. Try telling them that back in March.

“I think guys have done an unbelievable job speaking on different issues that they’re passionate about. The Breonna Taylor situation, right? We can’t stop saying her name,” said Chris Paul.
“I think a big shout out to women in the WNBA because they’re very deliberate in everything that they do.
“I actually went to the pool at our hotel last night and just saw guys talking. You know, you don’t get to do that during the regular season. It’s always in passing.”
Black turnout is looking like it will be the major deciding factor in the election which will no doubt be all about race. Many NBA players are reaching out to black communities, particularly ex-convicts, who mistakenly thought that they did not have a right to vote.

“I was talking to Darius Bazley, one of my teammates, about voting the other day so understanding how powerful our voice is to get people to get out and vote,” added Paul.
“These kids watch our game. They want to buy our shoes. They want to do all this different type stuff. So we have to really start to use our influence to make sure that they understand the importance of voting and how suppression of the vote is rigged.”
