Leonard Fournette Still Undecided On Covid-19 Vaccine
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette is prepared to live with the restrictions of being unvaccinated against Covid-19.
Leonard Fournette is undecided about getting the shot at a time when the NFL is tightening health and safety restrictions.
It was recently announced that teams who have a Covid-19 outbreak will forfeit rather than reschedule a game. Clearly, this is intended to encourage vaccine take up among NFL players and stop disruption.
In spite of this Leonard Fournette is still conflicted about receiving the vaccine. On Thursday, he Tweeted that he didn’t want to get the shot. However on Sunday, he said he needs to find out more about it.

“I just don’t know too much about it,” Fournette said.
He’ll have the chance to learn. Head coach Bruce Arians will make doctors available to address the individual concerns of players regarding the vaccine.
“I’m going to talk to them, and just see what’s the best decision, for myself and for the team.”Â
Choosing not to get the vaccine is no trivial matter. At a time when others are regaining certain freedoms, not getting jabbed will result in more restrictions. Fournette will have to be extra cautious to ensure he doesn’t infect his teammates.
“We went over the rules yesterday,” Fournette said. “I know what’s going on, I know what to do and what not to do.”
“I know a lot of people who got the shot and still got the corona,” Fournette said. “Just taking it day-by-day, week-by-week, talking to the doctors, trying to figure out what’s best for myself and the team.”

Tampa Bay was one of the few teams who didn’t experience a damaging Covid-19 outbreak last season. They cannot afford to relent this year, despite the light at the end of the tunnel.
“It’s always on your mind,” Arians said. “Florida’s a hot spot in the nation. Hillsborough [County] and Pinellas [County] were No. 1 for a while. … Guys still have to be smart. We talked a lot about the delta variant and what it means, what rules you are following if your wristband’s red and your wristband’s yellow.”
