Knicks expected to hire Mike Brown as new head coach
Following another impressive run in the NBA playoffs, with the iconic franchise advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals, the New York Knicks parted ways with longtime head coach Tom Thibodeau in a surprising and somewhat questionable move.
Unfortunately for New York, the search for a new head coach was not an easy one, as they requested permission to speak with numerous current coaches around the league and didn’t appear to have a clear plan on what to do.

Although it was a long and widely criticized process for the Knicks, the team will bring in one of the most successful coaches available, Mike Brown, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
The New York Knicks are expected to hire two-time NBA Coach of the Year winner Mike Brown as the franchise’s next head coach, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.
Brown has had a lot of success during his time in the NBA. Still, he hasn’t been able to secure a job for very long, despite that success, as he’s been the leader on the sidelines for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Sacramento Kings.
Brown, who has a combined record of 454-304 as a head coach with the Cavaliers, Lakers and Kings, won his first NBA Coach of the Year honor in 2009 with Cleveland. He won the award again in 2023 with Sacramento.
Brown led the Cavs to an NBA Finals appearance in 2007, though Cleveland was swept by the Spurs in four games.
The real question now is whether Brown can keep this talented team, led by Jalen Brunson, as a legitimate title contender moving forward. The Knicks are expected to be a heavyweight in the Eastern Conference along with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
