Cowboys’ Jerry Jones offers concerning update on Micah Parsons

The Dallas Cowboys continue to hold their ground when it comes to the contract situation with superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons.

It doesn’t seem like the situation is progressing in the right direction, even with the start of the 2025 NFL season being right around the corner for America’s Team.

Longtime Cowboys team owner and general manager Jerry Jones isn’t making the situation any better as he continues to publicly point the blame at Parsons, which doesn’t bode well for the storied franchise’s immediate future. Jones said the following via Todd Archer of ESPN.

While speaking on Michael Irvin’s YouTube channel, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said the agreement he believed he made with Micah Parsons “would’ve made him the highest-paid guaranteed player other than a quarterback in the NFL.”

“Nobody appreciates Micah Parsons more than the Cowboys or me,” Jones said. “Nobody has ever offered him more money than I have to play football. Period.”

It appears that things have escalated, with Parsons’ agent taking exception to the contract being offered, even though Jones claims it comes with the highest guaranteed money for a player who doesn’t play the quarterback position.

“When we wanted to send the details to the agent, the agent told us to stick it up our ass,” Jones said. “Just so you’re clear.”

It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out and if both sides can come to terms on a deal before the start of the season, or if the Cowboys will need to trade arguably one of the best defensive players in the league.
