West Virginia @ Iowa State Preview
Iowa State is ranked 15th in the nation on the AP poll. Â However, all five of its losses have come in the Big 12, including a Feb.10 loss to West Virginia. Tonight they will be looking for redemption against that very team.
Iowa State will also be looking for its fourth consecutive victory and be looking to continue to climb the AP poll. Â Â
Perhaps more importantly, West Virginia will be looking for a bit of revenge after having their hot streak snapped by West Virginia earlier this month. Â Iowa State began the month by rolling over Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, both ranked teams at the time. Â They then easily defeated TCU, before getting handily defeated 102-77 by West Virginia on Feb. 10. Â Since then the Cyclones have won three consecutive games and have every intention of not letting West Virginia foil their hot streak again.
It is not that the Mountaineers play particularly well against ranked opponents.  They are 2-6 against top 25 teams this season.  They have also dropped 14 straight road games to ranked opponents, a streak they will be looking to snap. Â
West Virginia showed that it could win games against ranked foes however, when their defense held Big 12 point leader Melvin Ejim to just six points, a season low. Â They also had him shooting just 1-of-9. Â Ejim normally averages about 20 points per game. Â
Ejim is on fire now, though. Â He is 63.9 percent in his last five home games. Â West Virginia will need to shut down the talented shooter for a second time in order to win this game.
Iowa State are the huge favorites to win this game with a -10 point spread over at Bovada. Â The game starts at 8 p.m. ET and you can watch it on ESPN3.
