AFC South Week 9 Preview
Week 9 of NFL football will kick off in just a few hours and we are officially past the half way mark of the season. Every win matters especially in a division like the AFC South where the Houston Texans hold a dominant lead over the division. No team is likely to take the division away from the Texans, but they need to win because the wild card is still wide open especially when looking at the win/loss records around the NFL. Here is a preview of today’s games in the AFC South.
Titans versus Bears
The Tennessee Titans will be hosting the Bears this week. The Titans had one two games in a row before playing the Indianapolis Colts last week. After a blown fumble call the Titans lost to the Colts in overtime. The Titans really need this victory no matter how unlikely the victory is. A win here will put their win/loss record at 4-5 and get them back on track to getting a playoff spot.
The Chicago Bears are 6-1, however, and are not going to go down easy. The Titans will have to win against a +4.5 point spread. The moneyline for this game is at +190 for the Titans and -220 for the Bears. the over/under is at 44 points.
Jaguars versus Lions
The Jacksonville Jaguars are 1-6 and are at this point in the season playing for pride in every game. A Detroit Lions win here would put them at an even record and keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Jaguars are the underdogs in this contest and will really need step up to take care of the Lions. The Jaguars run game has been stifled by the injury of Maurice Jones-Drew, but the Lions pass defense is not all that great. If the Jaguars can air the ball out effectively they have a real shot at winning.
The Jaguars are the clear underdogs in this contest according to the odds with a +5.5 point spread. The moneyline for the Jaguars is at +210 and -250 for the Lions.  The over/under is at 44 points.
Colts versus Dolphins
Surprisingly, the Indianapolis Colts led by Andrew Luck could move to a solid 5-3 record putting them right up their in the Ranking by the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos. In order to do this though they will have to defeat the Miami Dolphins who are coming off a dominating upset victory over the New York Jets.
This game is a close one in the odds with a 1 point spread putting the Colts as the slight underdogs. The moneyline has the Lions at -125 and the Colts at +105. The over/under is at 44 points.
Texans versus Bills
A lot of things are going to have to come together and click for the Buffalo Bills in order for them to defeat the Texans. Things that haven’t really came together for this team all year. They will need to throw the ball effectively. Put pressure on the Texans offense by somehow stopping Andre Johnson from making big plays, among other things. The Texans are very likely to move to 7-1 this week.
The odds have the Texans as overwhelming favorites with a -10.5 point spread. The moneyline is equally disparaging for the Bills with their money line at +430 to the Texans -525. The over/under is 47.5 points.
